| Richard S. Schneider, Ph.D. was a General Partner
of Domain Associates, a venture capital firm, from 1990 until his
retirement in 1999. Domain manages over $900 million and invests in
healthcare and biotechnology companies. Prior to joining Domain Associates,
Dr. Schneider served as Vice President of 3i Ventures Corporation,
a venture capital firm, from April 1986 to July 1990. From 1983 to
1989, he was President of Biomedical Consulting Associates. From 1967
to 1983, Dr. Schneider was Vice President and founder of Syva Company,
a diagnostics company that was part of Syntex Corporation, a pharmaceutical
company. Dr. Schneider is a Director of Landec Corporation, Selective
Genetics, Inc., Sonosite, Inc., AvanViva, Inc., and MitoKor and serves
on the advisory boards of two venture capital firms. Dr. Schneider
holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin,
completed post-doctoral studies at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology, attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business and
holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of California,
Berkeley.
